How I fell in love with Photography

Photography started for me during COVID.

At the time I was doing virtual school in South Florida, and I chose photography as an elective. I didn’t think much of it at first, it was just another class. But the more I started using a camera, the more I realized how much I loved capturing moments.

I come from a big multicultural family, and there’s always something going on. My brothers playing sports, my little cousins running around, family barbecues, random afternoons at the park. Those moments might seem small, but they’re the ones that hold so much joy.

During a time when the world felt really chaotic and heavy, photography helped me focus on the good. When I looked through my lens, I started noticing the laughter, the color, the movement, and the love that was happening right in front of me. I realized I loved turning those tiny, everyday moments into memories that could last forever.

A lot of the inspiration behind this also comes from the women in my family. I grew up around strong, creative, entrepreneurial women who showed me that you can turn something you love into something meaningful.

That’s what photography has become for me. It’s not just about taking pictures, it’s about capturing happiness in the middle of everyday life. The simple moments, the milestones, the laughter between people who love each other.

Even with all the negativity that can exist in the world, photography reminds me that there is still so much love and beauty happening around us. Sometimes all you have to do is look for it.

And for me, the camera is how I do that.
